Plug Hat Road is a quiet rural road just north of Toronto Zoo. A perfect spot for a weekend morning train-watching. Overpass on CN’s Kingston Sub provides a superb morning light vantage point on the CP’s Belleville Sub going over CN’s Kingston Sub. Westbound traffic is moving on a bit of a grate, about 1.5%, so trains move at a leisurely pace, typically 15-20mph, which makes photos easy picking at anything faster than 1/200. Hands down one of my favourite spots – a lucky strike will bring both CP and CN at this point – so worth the drive and return trips.
Likely the best light is about hour after the sunrise, ISO at 400, Shuter at 1/200, f/8.
