Here and There

1/60s - f/8 - ISO100

Staring at the distant water horizon has always been one of the best ways to contemplate and relax. With its sheer size, our lake offers numerous possibilities to engage in this necessary sanity seeking exercise. Looking at that distant horizon, as the Sun comes up, gives us that sense of future, perspective of what may come next.

Foundation, though, is here, on the firm ground. No matter what comes across from the horizon, the comfort is in our foundation, familiar leaves of the season, firm rocks that keep us from being washed away. Our safe ground is the best platform from which to observe, hope and plan the next leap.

Leaves covered ground and blue waters of the lake create an unmistakable sense of place. At home on lake Ontario, looking from one of many shore parks into the distance and future as it is not only St.Catherines on the other side, it may be much much more, helping develop a sense of here to figure out how and what there is on the other end.
