Colour on Water

1/30s - f/11 - ISO100

First morning rays uncover scenes that are more oil-painting like than photographic. Fall colours reflecting off the surface, with white clouds giving a dramatic background, almost a surreal landscape. Layers of natural colour are coaxed out with the side-light of the rising Sun. In late fall, High Park’s Grenadier Pond is full of these reflections and departures from a fast paced reality.

When faced with this scene, hard not to think of Walden pond and transcending away from the busy grind of the daily life and established rhythm. Nature makes us take pause and just enjoy the beauty of reflection, serenity and light, without any heavy symbolism or pretext. It is just there, to be enjoyed and admired.

Hard not to stop and admire the scene, rich natural palette reflecting in the calm waters of a pond, does not get more beautiful than this.
